At V2, the makeup artist, the photographer, and the retoucher are all working toward the same image. The makeup is applied for the camera, not the mirror. The lighting is built around what the retoucher will do afterward. The retoucher works with what the photographer specifically captured. Nothing is left to chance or patched together after the fact.
